This movie is about a man who goes to Africa for a diamond deal and gets involved in a conflict with broader implications. Leonardo Dicaprio (who is on his best behaviour for this role) plays a fisherman whose wife was murdered. He goes to Africa to try and find her murderer but ends up getting into deeper trouble than he could have ever imagined. Some very chilling scenes happen in the movie that will make you edgy. The cinematography is beautifully done.
- Unbreakable (2000)
This M. Night Shyamalan movie came out before the hype of “Sixth Sense”, and Shyamalan was setting himself up to make classics with his subsequent movies. Unbreakable is a very well done movie and has some great actors who nail their roles. Bruce Willis plays a security guard who gets involved in a train wreck. He comes out of it unharmed, which leads him to interact with Samuel L. Jackson’s character, a comic book store owner. He knows these things are supposed to end badly for individuals like Willis’ character. The performances, story, and action sequences are spectacular and make this movie worth watching repeatedly.
- The Departed (2006)
This is a remake of the Hong Kong movie Infernal Affairs. The story takes place in Boston right as the Irish Mob has started to work with Asian gangs and cause problems in each central district. Colin Farrell plays a detective who works with his brother, a cop, to try a crackdown on these criminals. Matt Damon plays the Irish Mob boss and is caught up in the middle of a spider web that he can’t possibly get out of alive. Some great scenes happen throughout the movie, like when Tommy Lee Jones plays an FBI agent who gets knocked out and many more. There are some great actors in this movie, and when they all work together, it’s like watching a well-oiled machine.
- Seven Psychopaths (2012)
This movie came out a few years ago, but it’s already been considered one of the greatest movies among the list of best watch movies online. The story is about an eccentric writer who gets involved in solving his best friend’s murder that he had nothing to do with. Colin Farrell plays a hitman who works for criminals but has no idea that his wife and best friend are killed for reasons he had nothing to do with. Some hilarious scenes happen throughout the movie, and some very intense ones. It is an excellent combination of thrill, drama and action.
