Job Description : Staff Accountant – Northwestern Mutual Northern OhioNorthwestern Mutual – Northern Ohio is seeking a qualified, motivated individual to join our firm as an entry level staff accountant. This individual will be highly organized, detail-driven and will specialize in accounting services to ensure efficient and smooth operations of a high quality financial advisory firm. The ideal candidate will possess a high attention to detail, be a positive team player with high self-motivation and strong organizational skills. This individual will need strong written/verbal communication skills and the ability to balance multiple priorities. This individual would be a part of a dynamic, positive team that desires to make a strong impact of excellence within the firm.Essential duties:Work under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer and assist in the financial responsibilities for Risk as well as Investment businessAssist with accounts payable, reimbursements, paying bills and planning cash flowAssist with payroll system inputs, entry including commission payment calculationsAssist with reconciling bank accounts and management of fund transfersMaintain accuracy and integrity of financial system data entry, documents and filesEnsure timely collection of funds due to the firmGenerating and filing daily, month end and quarterly reportingAid in the preparation and information for outside tax accountantPreparing detailed professional and friendly correspondenceOther Responsibilities: Assist in educating new hires on compensation structuresAssist with ad hoc financial analyses as neededAid in the creation and implementation of annual firm budgetsAid in annual W2 and 1099 statement creation as well as issuanceParticipate in team meetings and attend available trainingsQualifications:0-3 years progressive accounting experienceStrong desire to learn and grow in the finance and accounting fieldBachelors degree in Finance or AccountingTechnologically savvy with knowledge in the use of Microsoft product suite and standard accounting software with preferred experience in QuickBooksCompetenciesAction OrientedEnjoys working hard; is action oriented and full of energy for the things he/she sees is challenging; not fearful of acting with a minimum of planning; seizes more opportunities than othersDrive for Results.
