GENERAL FUNCTION:
Fifth Third Bank’s Audit Division is responsible for performing independent, objective assurance activities for the Bank’s key business processes, products, services, and technologies, as well as governance, oversight and monitoring functions of management and support functions.
TEAM DESCRIPTION:
Audit Practices is responsible for supporting the Audit Department by maintaining and enhancing programs and processes that promote a standard of excellence, align with industry best practices and regulatory guidance, and assist auditors in day-to-day responsibilities. This includes managing the Audit Department’s core business processes, implementing, and enhancing audit policy/methodology and supporting tools, quality assurance, internal and external reporting, and processes related to people and talent.
The Lead Data Analyst role will collaborate with Audit Practices leadership team to build efficiency within processes by leveraging data and/or automation. The role will also be responsible for creating and updating periodic reporting and analysis for use by the Audit Division. This role will lead a range of analytics work across multiple audit functions. The candidate will need to exhibit broad working knowledge of data analytics tools and techniques. The ideal candidate will also have a business-related educational background (e.g. accounting, finance, etc.) and/or experience p erforming data analysis in the Banking, Financial Services, Insurance, or Public Accounting industries , as well as experience assessing risks across a variety of business functions.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Lead Data Analyst – Audit Practices will drive data strategy and execution to enhance reporting capabilities for the Audit Practices team as well as the Audit Division. This role is responsible for establishing routines to ensure data consistency and integrity of business data. Responsibilities also include utilizing data analysis competencies and business knowledge to identify, quantify, and assess business processes using data from a variety of sources.
Responsibilities also include audit metrics reporting, CAATs (computer assisted audit techniques), process automation, and other reporting and analyses in support of the Audit Division.

While operating within the Bank’s risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supports the Division through a wide range of data services and initiatives that transform data into business information that helps the Audit Division fulfill strategic objectives. This includes, but is not limited to, data extraction and cleansing, integrity and quality assessment, profiling and monitoring, reconciliation, conversion validation, and various statistical analyses and/or modeling.
Collaborates with Audit Practices to conduct data analyses to support business processes.
Leads data analytics projects, including requesting access to data, designing test strategies, and documenting business results and procedures performed.
Drives insights using visualization tools and knowledge of data visualization best practices .
Leads in the creation, automation, and publishing of new and existing reports.
Uses business acumen and knowledge of data and analytics to recommend new, enhanced, and advanced analyses that add value and advance analytical capabilities on division projects and initiatives.
Develops and leads training for the Audit Division on various data analytics topics and tools (e.g. Alation, AQT, Atacama, Business Objects, Data Visualization Best Practices, Dataiku, Excel, Python, R, SAS, and Tableau).
Contributes to team effort by willingly sharing knowledge, being open to new ideas, applying knowledge in daily work, and building strong partnerships for learning and knowledge sharing.
Provides thorough documentation of code logic, procedures performed, and testing outcomes, and ensures that assigned projects are conducted in compliance with applicable regulatory, enterprise, and functional policies, procedures, guidelines and methodologies.
Independently researches and implements industry best practices for data analytics and data management.
Effectively communicates in a concise manner and actively participates in group discussions.
Suggests creative, well-thought-out ideas to support issue/problem diagnostics and brainstorming of potential solutions.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative field, such as Management Information Systems, Information Systems, Computer Science, Informatics, Data Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, Math, Physics, Engineering, or related degree program. Master’s Degree preferred. Additional audit or business-related degree preferred. Other related academic majors (e.g., Accounting or Audit) should be accompanied by relevant work experience and demonstrated ability to perform analytics.
Minimum of 6 years of experience using statistical programming languages (e.g. SAS, Python, R) to analyze/model data, as well as using other languages / tools to automate queries, reports, and other tasks (e.g. VBA, UIPath).
Demonstrated ability to learn and understand various applications and business intelligence/database tools.
Demonstrated knowledge of data modeling and database design best practices, Tableau and data visualization best practices, and predictive modeling and machine learning.
Ability to effectively communicate and present technical results and their business impact.
Demonstrated leadership skills while working within teams, maintaining professional composure.
Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and an ability to apply logical and critical thought processes when developing solutions.
Results and goal oriented, with the ability to adjust to multiple demands and changing priorities.
Ability to apply analytical thinking when problem solving and developing business solutions.
Ability to maintain objectivity in all aspects of position.
Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and other related applications . Advanced Excel skills are preferred.
