Overview:
The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA), located in Seattle, Washington, is part of a dynamic collaboration among three organizations known nationally and internationally for their patient care and research. Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, University of Washington, and Seattle Children’s. Over the past 25 years, these institutions have worked together to support their mission of audit and oncology patient care services, research and education.
Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Senior Cash Accountant is an integral member of the accounting team, responsible for maintaining, tracking, monitoring and reporting cash receipts and disbursements. This position requires in-depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, proficiency in accounting systems, and strong motivation to contribute to the achievement of an efficient monthly/quarterly/annual close and financial reporting process displaying great attention to detail, the ability to work independently and deliver results under deadlines as well as working effectively cross-functionally in a rapidly changing environment.
Responsibilities:
Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations as assigned for month end close
Review cash postings
Review, monitor and update automated cash posting rules
Prepare payment requests and disburse automated bank payments
Maintain, track and monitor cash & bank transactions and balances
Prepare financial information and reports, including managerial reports, board reports, and others upon request
Assist in the annual financial statements audit
Work on special projects as assigned
Develop tactical solutions to identified issues within the department. Assist others within the department as needed, including training and research, and serve as a liaison to those outside of the department
Communicate cross functionally with peers, department managers and affiliates to identify and resolve accounting issues, share and gather information, and report out financial information
Qualifications:
Required:
Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
Five years experience in accounting or finance; five years conducting monthly/yearly financial statement close processing
Proficient in Excel
Preferred:
MBA
CPA
Experience in PeopleSoft and Blackline
Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
Attention to detail, prioritization and follow up skills
Ability to work independently balancing multiple tasks with minimal direction
Experience in a large corporation or SaaS technology company
Ability to interact professionally with all levels of the organization
Proficient verbal and written communication skills
