Job Description : SENIOR ACCOUNTANTJOB SUMMARY AND OBJECTIVE:The Senior Accountant is responsible for assisting the Chief Financial Officer and Controller with financial-related tasks, as well as supporting internal and external users with financial information as needed.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:· Prepare and enter general ledger entries for monthly and year-end close· Reconcile accounts to the general ledger on a monthly basis· Prepare and assist in preparing monthly financial statements, as well as financial reports for analysis purposes, such as departmental budgets and cash flow projections· Answer program budget questions for department leaders, correct errors, resolve accounting related issues and provide other information as required· Review invoices for accuracy, proper approvals and correct GL coding· Provide accurate and timely information for auditors, as well as internal and external requestors· Back up the processing of bi-monthly payroll and other AP functions· Manage fixed assets system· Assist with state and local tax filings as needed; manage the 1099 processing· Provide support and assistance on payables process, as well as identifying areas needing improvement and working to create efficiencies· Other duties as assigned by ControllerBEHAVIORS AND COMPETENCIES:Technical and Professional Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAchievement of technical and professional knowledge, skills, and abilities is high in position-related areas; demonstrates curiosity and keeps current with trends in areas of expertise.Communication SkillsEffectively listens, speaks, observes, and empathizes while showing appropriate assertiveness, confidence, and respect.
