Job Description : This position plays a significant role in assisting Senior Executives with risk management, achievement of strategic objectives and fulfilling the Company`s promise to its policyholders. As a trusted advisor, the Internal Audit Manager III builds and cultivates effective business relationships while providing independent value-added audit and advisory services. The Internal Audit Manager III will lead a team of internal audit professionals to provide assessments of Liberty Mutual’s internal control environment through the execution of risk analysis, control evaluation, and innovative audit testing procedures and techniques. The manager is accountable for the development, oversight, and delivery of an assigned annual audit plan through the execution of high-quality, risk-based audit engagements that provide value to management and for driving and implementing change and continuous improvement within the Audit department. Position offers flexibility to leverage a hybrid work model. Proximity to an office hub preferred; remote work acceptable. Job Responsibilities: Manages a team of audit professionals. Responsible for the coaching and development needs of assigned team members, including promoting and monitoring achievement of department initiatives. In partnership with Senior Management and GIA Operations, influences staffing strategy and financial plan consistent with the needs of the department and manages to plan. Defines individual performance objectives and development plans and ensures alignment with project and department objectives. Appraises and evaluates department and individual performance. Leads the development of a risk-based, value-add audit plan that includes coverage of key risk areas and aligns with the strategic priorities of the organization. Participates in the discussion and presentation of the annual audit plan to Senior Management. Stays abreast of new developments and emerging risks facing the organization. Develops effective relationships with Audit Stakeholders to remain attuned to the needs of the business and maintain agility in the audit plan. Communicate and promote GIA department vision and initiatives with audit clients in order to deepen partnerships. Oversees the execution and completion of audits across assigned Business Unit ensuring appropriate scope and schedule are established for projects. Ensure all engagements are completed in accordance with the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and department policies and procedures. Provides guidance on incorporation of digital tools to deliver increased efficiency and deeper insights on risk. Promotes a culture of continuous improvement to identify and lead team members to execute process improvement suggestions to advance the department’s value to the organization and overall effectiveness. Develops and maintains a network of industry contacts. Analyzes industry trends and makes strategic and tactical recommendations to improve departmental performance. Works collaboratively with the external auditors to ensure efficient deployment of internal audit resources to help minimize external audit fees. Advanced knowledge of internal audit practices and the ability to evaluate internal controls as typically acquired through 10 or more years of audit or relevant business experience, including prior audit management experience and a Bachelor’s Degree (Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred). Progress toward completing a professional designation is preferred (i.e., CIA, CISA, CPCU, CFE). Demonstrated ability to influence others, including Senior Management as well as strong written and verbal communication skills required. Must have effective analytical, problem solving, and research skills. Familiarity with data analysis tools, such as ACL (Audit Command Language) and/or PowerBI, is a plus.
