GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
The Cost Accountant is a significant role for the organization providing key data and analysis to the executive management team to support strategic decision making. This role will support cost initiatives across four product lines produced in two manufacturing facilities within North America.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintaining fixed assets while following company fixed asset guidelines.
Support the capital appropriation process and calculation of return on investment.
Calculating monthly depreciation and reconciling fixed assets monthly.
Managing our standard cost system and maintaining accurate standard costs.
Coordination with the supply chain team and monitoring of PPV.
Act as liaison among multiple departments to address cost related topics to include items such as: scrap, warranty, and new product development costs.
Support company initiatives on reducing costs in manufacturing.
Responsible for inventory valuation (GAAP and IFRS), excess and obsolescence reserve computations, monthly inventory reconciliation at domestic plants, cycle counting.
Analysis of manufacturing plant variances to standard costs and budget, including: material price/quantity, labor efficiency/rate, and overhead variances.
Cost support including analysis on standard cost of product, margins and inventory within North America.
Collaborate with other members of the accounting team to allow for more efficient company and divisional reporting to the parent company.
Support new product development process by analyzing costs and presenting cost data to senior level management.
Responsible for reporting financial figures to parent company in France.
Direct interactions with the external audit team on cost accounting topics.
Testing and verifying internal control items at the production facilities.
Support the annual standard cost roll process.
Contribute in preparation of the annual budget and forecasting for plant operations.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 2 years of work experience in accounting/finance department.
Cost Accounting experience preferred.

Analytical Skills – ability to independently select/apply the right problem solving method and analysis to address the business question at hand.
Teamwork – ability to foster good working relationships and contribute in a team environment.
Entrepreneurial – ability to consistently display “out of the box” thinking, seeking opportunities for efficiency and enhancements to existing processes or in new topic areas.
Knowledge of ERP systems and Consolidation software is preferred.
Construction Equipment Industry knowledge preferred.

EDUCATION:
Bachelors’ degree in Accounting or Finance.
CPA License preferred.
Accounting – understanding of accounting concepts for both US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as well as International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) is preferred.

LOCALIZATION AND TRAVEL EXPECTED:
This position is located in Madison, SD.
Limited travel – a few trips annually to domestic production facilities are possible.
