JOB SUMMARY:
Supports the Finance and Accounting function under the guidance of the Corporate Controller for all phases of financial accounting, audit, tax, treasury, internal controls, and government compliance. Supports timely and accurate accounting, treasury operations and consolidated financial reporting for all locations, both foreign and domestic. Supports planning and implementing accounting and system changes resulting from business expansion as well as process changes while ensuring compliance with all external requirements as well as internal controls.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for the monthly financial close, coordination of the AR and AP cut offs, posting of accruals, recurring journal entries and sub-ledgers to the GL.
Ensures that company wide accounts are accurately stated and transactions are properly recorded and classified each month, and that all reserve accounts are adequate and balance sheet accounts are reconciled.
Assists in the coordination and scheduling of audits annually with the Company’s external financial auditors, as well as the preparation of the audited financial statements including footnote disclosures.
Assists in the completion of annual federal and state income tax returns, as well as quarterly income estimates and tax payments.
Functionally supervises all accounting activities at the operational level across several subsidiaries and directly supervises accounting activities at the corporate level. Directly responsible for the Corporate Accounts Payable, and General Accounting functions, payroll, and benefit accounting.
Assists in ensuring adequacy of internal controls company wide.
Assists in establishing and administering accounting practices and controls for new and existing foreign offices and legal entities.
Represents cross functional teams from a financial perspective and provides leadership, as required.
Provides leadership and direction for continuous process improvements by engaging various individuals from within the company in a supportive fashion to ensure team objectives are met.
Technical Competencies:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required; CPA preferred. Preference given to advanced degree or CMA certification.
Minimum of six (6) years of progressive work experience in accounting, with a combination of public accounting and private industry, preferably with manufacturing or distribution companies.
In-depth knowledge of GAAP with experience creating clear and concise balance sheet account analysis to support the month-end and year-end accounts.
Exposure to international operations, translation, and consolidation of foreign subsidiaries
Knowledge of standard cost systems, payroll accounting helpful
Advanced Excel skills required, experience with MS Access helpful
Minimum 5 years’ experience with major ERP systems, (Oracle, SAP, Sage, Epicor, etc.)
Strong financial acumen and proven analytical abilities.
Strong internal controls knowledge and experience.
Experience in successful, high-growth companies; manufacturing or distribution experience preferred. |
