Job Description : MHHS Description: Minnie Hamilton Health System (MHHS) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that owns and operates a Critical Access Hospital with 18 Acute Care/Swing Beds, 24 Long Term Care (Nursing Home) Beds, Rural Health Clinic, Primary Care practices, and a Dental practice, serving residents in central WV.Job Duties: Plans, directs, and manages the activities of the accounting function for the HospitalApplies principles of accounting and statistical analysis to maintain and ensure accuracy of general accounting systemParticipate in cost report preparation and annual financial auditCoordinates and presents accurate and timely preparation of monthly financial statements and other reporting and analysis as neededWorks with direct reports to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance development of staffOversees activities of Accounts Payable and PayrollProvides assistance to hospital department leaders in preparing their respective budgetsUnderstands contractual adjustments in a healthcare settingPrepares and keys monthly journal entriesConducts reconciliation of bank accountsReviews and reconciles assigned general ledger accounts as directed by the CFO and resolves any discrepanciesParticipates in the preparation of hospital financial statements and reports for internal distribution and regulatory reportingAssists in the identification and analysis of significant fluctuations in asset/liability account balances, and communicates findings to CFO for follow-up actionProvides information and assistance to the external auditors as requested to facilitate the audit’s timely completionMaintains the computerized fixed asset listAttends and/or participates in professional development programsPerforms special projects and other duties as assigned.Specific Requirements: · Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, or Accounting· At least 3 years of accounting experience· 1-3 years healthcare experience with experience of various financial software packages.
