Job Description : | CONTROLLERFACILITY: Ex-Tech Facility – ILREPORTS TO: North American Business Unit CFOOVERTIME (FLSA) STATUS: ExemptDIRECT REPORTS: Accounting AssociateSUMMARYAs the leader of the local accounting team and based at the facility, in this role that reports to the North American Business Unit CFO, you’ll contribute to the success of the company by ensuring the timely, accurate and compliant execution of all aspects of accounting and the reporting of the financial position. You’re someone with proven expertise in the implementation and monitoring for compliance with local, regional and federal requirements, adherence to GAAP, protecting the financial assets and managing inventory in collaboration with the logistics and manufacturing teams. Your business orientation means you keep an eye on ensuring proper cash flow and ensuring working capital is maximized. Your entrepreneurial mindset will encourage you to always seek out improvements, enhancements and ways to better the business.KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORSYou’ll have 4 core accountabilities in this role to ensure that the key performance indicators for the business are achieved:Provide in-depth, ongoing financial monitoring of all aspects of the facility to ensure profitable billings, positive cash flow and proactive identification and correction of actual and potentials shortfalls;Implements the application and monitoring of enterprise procedures and financial controls at the facility to attain objectives while ensuring facility understanding;Financial information and statements are accurately and consistently prepared and reported for the facility, attaining all deadlines;Manage all aspects of A/P, A/R, payroll, withholdings, remittances, bonuses and commission computations at a facility level.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESAs the leader of the accounting team, who is dedicated to the success of the company, you’ll demonstrate your skills, knowledge, experience, and expertise by performing the following duties and responsibilities, where applicable assignments and accountabilities may be reassigned, added and adjusted from time to time.Prepares, audits and publishes timely, accurate and complete periodic financial statements and reports on a divisional level;Coordinates and directs the preparation of financial forecasts and budgets for the facility in accordance with regulatory and corporate requirements;Directs the operations of the accounting and finance department including A/R, A/P, Payroll, GL management, as well as month-end and year-end closings;Ensures ongoing financial compliance with provincial/state and federal requirements;Manages all aspects of budgeting, audits, taxation, accounting, insurances and banking for the facility in collaboration with the Director of Accounting;Analyzes, consolidates and directs all accounting practices, ensuring that appropriate education and understanding exists with facility staff;Manages the accounting operations including internal accounting controls, transactional-processing operations, policies and procedures;Calculates variances from budget and financial targets, reporting on issues and advising on corrective measures;Monitors and reports on financial ratios to ensure compliance with bank covenants;Ensures ongoing period bank reconciliations are completed;Manages A/R, collections and aging for efficient and timely funding inflows;Ensures that A/P discounts are maximized, approving all payments to balance with cashflow and manages A/P and A/P aging;Manages the ongoing, accurate and timely execution of payroll processing;Ensures performance plans and reviews are conducted at least annually for all direct and indirect reports in conjunction the Director of People to recognize and promote high performers while focusing on turning-around the performance of those faltering.QUALIFICATIONSCapableYou’ll be adept at translating complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including both finance and non-finance individuals. You’ll have an uncanny ability to create written reports, develop policies and procedures and provide written and verbal reports to management, other stakeholders and direct reports. You’ll have at least a decade of experience in senior finance and accounting roles with a university degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration, or the equivalent of education and experience in a major organization or large corporation division.CleverYour passion is numbers. You’ll have proven prowess analyzing, interpreting and reporting on periodic business financials, including the production and dissemination of Balance Sheets and Income (P&L) Statements. Your go-get-‘em attitude means you’re the one who gets results without a lot of instructions. You’ll appreciate the collaborative environment where we frequently use video conferencing, email and online chat feature to stay connected, with noise levels that may elevate from laughter but are normally reflective of typical office space. There aren’t any additional obvious dangers you’ll encounter in this role outside of the standard potential slip, trip and fall hazards that may exist within an office. You may occasionally be required to travel between site locations or to a distant destination for meetings, resulting in some overnight stays away from your home.Physical demandsAs you’ve anticipated, you’ll primarily be situated at a work area, consistently operating a computer to analyze and report on trends and results. In addition, you will frequently utilize other office equipment such as a printer/scanner/copier, calculator and telephone. You’ll occasionally move about within the office to access files, meet and interact with coworkers and stakeholders and access equipment and information. Your pleasant demeanor will be expressed consistently as you meet with other team members, clients and suppliers face to face, via telephone and video calls and through written correspondence, where in each of these scenarios you must be able to effectively exchange accurate information.
