We need to hire a trustworthy, ethical, responsible, and organized CONTROLLER to exercise sound judgment and make independent discretionary decisions regarding the dealership’s overall financial and office workflow. The Controller is the key dealership executive for managing accounting tasks and related policies and procedures and implements controls to ensure compliance with the Company’s policies. Ideal applicants will have a 4-year Accounting or Finance degree, or a combination of education and Auto Dealership Accounting Experience, working as a Dealership Controller, Assistant Controller, or Office Manager. Applicants should also have Strong Microsoft Excel, Computer, Accounting, Analytical Forecasting, and Budgeting Skills. CDK experience is preferred. Responsibilities – Auto Dealership Controller: Ensure accounting records are reconciled and maintained in an orderly, current, and accurate condition at all times. Audit the balance sheets and schedules regularly and address any potential problems while keeping the Dealer Principal informed of problems and potential liabilities. Ensure timeliness, accuracy, completeness, and uniformity of the financial statement and related documents to the manufacturer as outlined by the Accounting Managers Council. Provide support to all departments to produce increased revenue, control expenses; contribute to customer and employee satisfaction. Maintain an effective cash management system that forecasts cash funds and makes recommendations for the profitable use of excess cash. Bank statement reconciliations completed monthly. Oversee accurate recording of sales, proper coding of rebates, completion of title work, and timely submission of all payments, contracts, and/or drafts required to receive funding. Prepares sales commission/chargeback detail reports. Review, process, and remit warranty claims and ensure compliance to manufacturer policies. Develop policies to effectively manage A/R, including commercial, retail and body shop customers. Ensure all manufacturer accounts including warranty claims, rebates, interest protection, and co-op advertising accounts, are current and accurate. Maintain utmost scrutiny on accounts payable including timeliness of payment, application of discounts and the competitiveness of price and services. Ensure all Company policies are communicated and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance. Perform Human Resources and Benefit Administration tasks including PTO administration, onboarding, preparation of payroll, health benefits, terminations, and 401(k) contributions on a timely basis. Maintains confidential employee files. Ensure compliance with all applicable government finance regulations, including filing and/or maintaining of required forms, payroll taxes and deposits, income taxes, personal property taxes, UCC filings, retirement plan records etc. Schedule competitive bids and meet with dealer to evaluate all property and liability insurance, dealer management system and health insurance renewals well in advance of term expiration. Maintain guidelines for filing and annual cleaning of old records in accordance with the Company’s record retention policy. Assist in audit preparation and inquiries (sales tax, franchise, warranty, property/casualty). Controls key to the buildings and maintain a log of all keys issued to employees.
