This position is responsible for a full range of fiscal audit duties to ensure the propriety of Child Care Fund (CCF) reimbursements to counties and tribes for neglected, abused, and juvenile justice youth in Michigan. The position is responsible for ensuring that costs and/or data supplied to the department is accurate, allowable, and appropriate according to federal and state laws or regulations and departmental policy. The employee must be able to work independently and is required to utilize laws, regulations, rules, standards, policies and procedures of professional auditing.

Required Education and Experience
Education
Possession of a bachelor’s degree with at least 24 semester (36 term) credits in accounting.

Experience

Auditor
No specific type or amount is required.

Auditor 10
One year of professional experience auditing accounting, financial, and operations records equivalent to an Auditor 9.

Auditor P11
Two years of professional experience auditing accounting, financial, and operations records equivalent to an Auditor, including one year equivalent to an Auditor 10.
Alternate Education and Experience
Auditor 9 – 12 Possession of a bachelor’s degree with 24 semester credits (36 term) in finance, information systems, or management may be substituted for the education for positions responsible for internal auditing.

OR

Possession of a Certified Internal Auditor certification or a Certified Information System Auditor certification may be substituted for one year of experience at the P11 level for positions responsible for internal auditing.

OR

Possession of a Certified Management Accountant certification (CMA) may be substituted for six months of experience at the P11 level.

OR

Possession of a Certified Public Accountant certification (CPA) may be substituted for one year of Auditor experience.

Additional Requirements and Information
This position is located at 320 S. Walnut Street, Lansing, MI, however, this position has the possibility to work remotely.

Employees will be provided computers to perform state work. Phones may also be provided for necessary communications. If working remotely, employees will be responsible for providing other components of a remote office at their own expense, including:

A secure work location that allows privacy and prevents distractions.
A high-speed internet connection of at least 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.
Suitable lighting, furniture, and utilities.

Other coverage includes vision, dental, life, and long-term disability insurance, as well as tax-deferred Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) for health, prescription, dental and vision eligible expenses, dependent care expenses, and Qualified Transportation Fringe Benefits (QTFB). Employees also have the option to purchase additional life, accidental death, and long-term care insurance, auto/home insurance, identify theft protection, and legal services.

Paid Parental Leave

Provides eligible individuals up to 12 weeks of paid leave immediately following birth or adoption of a child.

Deferred Compensation

Employees may invest income in a tax-deferred retirement investment program. The state offers two optional deferred compensation plans, the 457 and 401(k). Employees decide the amount deducted from their paychecks.

Retirement

Employees receive a minimum 4% state contribution toward their retirement fund. If an employee elects to contribute more, the state will match up to 3%. The Office of Retirement Services administers two different retirement plans for State of Michigan employees: Defined Benefit (DB) and Defined Contribution (DC). New hires can also receive up to a 2% employer match into a Personal Healthcare Fund and a lump-sum credit to a tax-deferred account if eligible.
