| Job Description : | Assistant Controller – Scottsdale, AZ Lessen’s software is the driving engine behind the fastest-growing startup in real estate services. On one side of the marketplace, our software handles the logistics and workflow to connect service professionals to high-quality, well-specified projects with same-day payments. On the other side of the marketplace, our customers get access to timely, integrated property services, including renovations, maintenance, and cleaning from the best professionals in the industry. We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to assist in developing our rapidly growing accounting team. This is the perfect position for an individual who has experienced in creating policies and processes, and can manage multiple priorities, and is a self-starter who can work independently but who is also a good team player. This role will provide the opportunity to grow and work closely with the Financial Controller as well as partner with our business leaders across the organization. RESPONSIBILITIES Lead the execution of the accounting close process and implement best practices to improve timing Review the monthly financials and perform fluctuation analysis on key accounts and provide to the Controller Generate weekly/monthly reporting to provide to key individuals outside of the accounting organization Implement policies and procedures across multiple functions of accounting Implement improvements and leverage our current technology to optimize accounting processes Work with the Controller to begin creating internal controls Assist in creating financial reporting for external stakeholders Manager the annual audit, including preparation of audit schedules and technical memos Adapt to new tasks and responsibilities as the business expands BASIC QUALIFICATION Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance plus 5-10 years of accounting experience CPA certification High proficiency with Microsoft Excel (Vlookups, Pivot tables, Macros, etc.) Detail-oriented, strong analytical and problem-solving with a focus on understanding operations Experience in hiring and developing personnel Proactive and self-motivated accounting professional, able to think independently Intellectual curiosity and initiative to dive in, ask questions, and figure things out Ability to prioritize and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment Strong understanding of accounting theory and knowledge of US GAAP Comfortable with a high degree of responsibility and autonomy Authorized to work in the US and not require sponsorship PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Mix of public accounting and private industry experience Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP system Experience in SaaS or Construction Strong understanding of data flow between systems Technical aptitude and the ability to pick up new software and systems quickly Ability to demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations WHY LESSEN Competitive compensation Company-paid 100% health insurance with optional dental/vision coverage 401K retirement savings plan Paid vacation and federal holidays Career advancement opportunities All the tools you’ll need to be successful |
