This department services Cedar Park’s six churches, four schools, a Funeral Home, Counseling Network, Mechanics Ministry, Missionary Car Ministry, and other related and unrelated entities.In this position, you will deliver high-quality service to both internal and external customers, provide leadership to various areas of the Accounting Department, provide support to the company, and work with competing duties and deadlines requiring an ability to prioritize and maintain professionalism. The Accounting Manager will play an integral role as it leads the accounting team, working through complex issues, transactions, and projects independently as well as collaboratively with cross-functional team members. The Accounting Manager should have a working knowledge of GAAP as well as the ability to analyze data and be able to hit the ground running.Ideally, this candidate will be a highly motivated and proactive individual who is comfortable mentoring others while working within a fast-paced, dynamic, and collaborative environment. The Accounting Manager must be comfortable staying on task independently, and thrives in an autonomous, self-directed environment requiring minimal supervision.Ministry is a critical component of Cedar Park Church. changed by the good news of Jesus Christ, and can connect what they are doing with this broader vision of the church.Essential Job FunctionsAccess computerized financial information to answer general questions as well as those related to specific accounts.Accurately create and track invoices and payment requisitions.Analyze financial result variances and accrual calculations.Assign projects and direct staff to ensure compliance and accuracy meet financial accounting objectives.Assist in the development of internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for activities such as cash and credit management, and accounting.Assist the CFO with the management of the company’s insurance program annually, with monthly amortizations.Assist with business licensing and permit renewals.Assist with preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, annual reports and budgets, and general reports.Code documents according to company procedures.Complete month, quarter, and year end close processes and reporting for all entities.Compute taxes owed and prepare tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting, or other tax requirements.Coordinate with external auditors and serve as administrator for annual audits including field work, reporting, and collecting information requested from all departments.Coordinate, oversee, and provide banking for and at fundraising events.Coordinating banking activities including, but not limited to, ordering supplies, opening and closing accounts, adding and removing signers, sending and receiving wires, reconciling monthly statements, and resolving issues.Develop and enforce internal control policies, business processes, accounting policies, and procedures to strengthen internal control.Develop and maintain relationships with banking, insurance, and external accounting personnel to facilitate financial activities.Develop, implement, modify, and document recordkeeping and accounting systems, making use of current computer technology.Ensure accuracy of and take responsibility for all journal entries in the general ledger.Ensure all accounting related legal and regulatory requirements are met.Ensure all billing is on time and meet specific requirements for individual jobs.Ensure and maintain proper retention and disposal of records.Ensure proper distribution of donations and collections of matching funds.Ensure proper processing, recording, safeguarding, and reporting of capital assets.Ensure the meeting of all accounting related legal and regulatory requirements.Establish and maintain internal controls (e.g., wired payment approvals, support of future implementations).Establish tables of accounts and assign entries to proper accounts.File monthly, quarterly, and year-end taxes and reports for multiple entities, including, but not limited to B&O, excise taxes including sales and use taxes, 1099, and property taxes and exemptions.Handle duties to ensure an accurate and timely month, quarter, and year-end close.Hire, train, mentor and motivate accounting personnel.Leverage human resources and technology to streamline accounts payable and receivable operations.Maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.Maintain and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.Maintain current knowledge of related audit, federal regulations, and state laws.Manage accounts: A/P, A/R, GL postings.Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department.Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.Monitor and evaluate the performance of accounting and other financial staff, recommending and implementing personnel actions, such as promotions and job redesigns.Monitor financial activities and details, such as cash flow and reserve levels, to ensure adequate funding for upcoming needs.Oversee the day-to-day work providing needed support or share in A/P and A/R duties as needed.Perform accounting functions including preparation and analysis of monthly financial and management reports for review with the CFO.Perform daily bank reconciliation.Perform daily online banking of multiple accounts and with multiple custodians.Perform financial analysis of the business as assigned by the CFO.Perform financial calculations, such as amounts due, interest charges, balances, discounts, equity, and principal.Perform system backups and maintenance.Prepare adjusting journal entries.Prepare contributions statements.Prepare forms and up-to-date process documentation and manuals for accounting personnel.Prepare general ledger entries by maintaining records and files.Prepare invoices and manage receivables for multiple entities.Prepare journal entries.Provide direction and assistance to other organizational units regarding accounting and budgeting policies and procedures and efficient control and utilization of financial resources.Provide maintenance and support of accounting software and various systems used by the finance office.Receive, record, and authorize requests for disbursements in accordance with company policies and procedures.Report to supervisor regarding the finances of establishment.Represent Cedar Park before taxing authorities and provide support during litigation involving financial issues.Review accounts for discrepancies and reconcile differences.Serve as point person of all accounts through financial statements including reviewing and analyzing monthly results to ensure accuracy of statements, making accruals and adjustments as needed.Supervise employees performing accounting functions such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, reporting, and other day-to-day operations for multiple entities.Track and maintain fixed asset records.Work with insurance companies to provide comprehensive risk management and appropriate coverage limits including liability insurance.Additional duties as assigned.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThe Accounting Manager may oversee may oversee +/- 6 finance personnel.Working ConditionsThe Accounting Manager has a private office and generally works Monday through Friday, between 7:30am and 4:30pm. This position requires the ability and willingness to work extended hours, as occasionally needed, per day or per week, including weekends and holidays, to meet business needs.This position requires exactness and accuracy, the ability to work well with others, continuous contact with others, meeting strict deadlines, and taking responsibility for the work outcomes and results of others most of the time. In this position, the coordination and leading of others in accomplishing work activities, dealing with external personnel, resolving conflict, and making decisions affect other people and/or the image or reputation of Cedar Park occur less than 50% of the time.This is an indoor position that requires daily use of the telephone, email, and face-to-face discussions. The Accounting Manager continually or almost continually sits for the duration of the workday with some bending and reaching.
