You will be responsible for executing a range of accounting processes including accounts payable, billing, accounts receivable, general ledger, bank reconciliations, payroll, and month/year-end closing while also overseeing the activities of our external bookkeeper/accounting team. You will also be responsible for identifying areas of improvement and implementing solutions (to include standard processes and procedures) that improve corporate Accounting functions. You will also execute some basic Finance functions and have the opportunity to grow your skills in this area. If excellence is your standard, come stand out by blending in with Chameleon Consulting Group.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPrepare daily and month-end close entries including revenue, payroll, prepaid expenses, accounts receivable, accrued liabilities and capital asset amortizationManage day-to-day relationship with external accounting firmPrepare customer billing and monitor accounts receivable statusPrepare reconciliations for necessary balance sheet accounts and various other general ledger accounts, as neededPlay a key role in the month-end and year-end closing processPrepare payrollMature accounting processes and procedures to ensure compliance with pertinent Government regulationsCoordinate, prepare for, and support internal and external audit requests with customers and DCAACreate, track, and analyze contracts in the accounting systemPrepare and post accurate contract revenue and cost accruals in accordance with contract terms in coordination with Project Management teamsAnalyze financial performance of projects, identify and research financial variances, and present financial results to OperationsSupport the generation of company annual budgets and quarterly forecasts in coordination with stakeholdersPrepare monthly and annual reports for review with company leadershipEffectively communicate with Project Managers, Company Leadership and team members to address and resolve issues regarding project financial variances, budgeting and forecasting, contract vendor orders, and customer billingsProvide banking and basic cash management activitiesProvide support to Operations team in proposal pricing activitiesRequired QualificationsBachelors’ Degree Business/Accounting or equivalent combination of education and experienceMinimum 5 years of Government accounting experience in professional services or a project-oriented environmentStrong accounting foundation including solid understanding of accounting principles, experience with revenue recognition, and journal entriesUnderstanding of financial statements, their preparation, and financial analysisExperience working in a federal government contracting environment including FAR requirements and DCAA compliance. Experience and understanding of indirect rate calculations, incurred cost submissions, and audit preparation/executionExperience with QuickBooks; familiarity with other accounting software packages (e.g. Unanet, Procas)Must be PC proficient and able to thrive in a fast-paced setting. Must have strong experience with Microsoft Excel and WordCreative problem-solver with effective resolution ability and analytical skillsMust demonstrate organization and prioritization skills to manage time and meet deadlinesStrong interpersonal and customer service skills required.
